My father (who has Parkinson’s) has regular MRIs, and found out the hard way that you should also take Metro cards (NYC area train-and-bus cards) out of your pockets, because the MRI will erase the magnetic strip.
Which reminded me of all the professors in the 5-1/4″ floppy floppy disk days who used to “pin” up their disks to their file cabinets with magnets and couldn’t figure out why their work was always disappearing. Sounds apocryphal, but I saw two professors do that with my own eyes, and had to explain to them why that was a bad idea.
