I’m about to really age myself, but…remember computers with green screens? My first computer was a Kaypro, with a little monochrome green screen, and after typing a while, everything white in the room turned rosy pink. And that is why amber screens were introduced, because they didn’t turn the world shades of red.
About color blindness–I have a totally color blind brother-in-law, to whom the world looks like a black-and-white television, and he figures traffic lights by position. (This doesn’t always work; sometimes there’s only single lights, and then he has to guess.)

YES, I remember computers like that, and amber ones too.
