  1. RE: Cutesy chart names–you’d just lo-o-o-o-ve the names of t’ai chi moves, I guess–things like “parting wild horse’s mane” and “snake creeps down” and “play guitar”.

(Because 1) they come from animal styles, 2) the way the final position looks reminded someone of that, and 3) because it’s shorter to say “play guitar” than “catch your opponent around their elbow from underneath and on the wrist from above and continue in those directions until you break the elbow.”)

  2. *comes out of lurker mode*

I don’t know if this is just my computer (or me!) being stupid, but I can’t get the last 3 lectures to download in iTunes…That would be the lectures from 1/9 and 1/10, Psychology 3256, Bio/Psych 3107, and Psychology 3506…

And if I can be a Shrieking Fan Girlie/Geek for one second…Thanks for these great lectures, Dr Brodbeck…I do a monotonous desk job, and never got a chance to do any psychology classes at all at university, and your lectures are really great to stretch my brain while I’m at work…I listen to them almost every day…Thank you!!

  3. Welcome Elizabeth. The first 3107 lecture sounds awful anyway….

try unsubscribing and resubscribing after deleting the original files. It seems to be a server side problem though. I will fix it ASAP, and thanks for the kind words!

    Dave

  4. Must have just been an iTunes burp…I tried to download them again this morning, not having done the resubscription thing, and it was just fine…

I’m still working my way through 3306 anyway, but if the Biology/Psychology lectures are what I think they are, that’s going to be really fun…

    I really am a geek, aren’t I? *huge grin*

  5. Oh yes, I know the Thunderbird Six…I just listened to the (very cool) ones about podcasting and it was really difficult for me not to just pack in my Boring Desk Job that very minute and run off to join the glamorous world of podcasting…*huge grin*

I did have a very big laugh when your guest (his name escapes me at this moment) talked incredulously about how there were even KNITTING podcasts out there (I listen to several regularly)…

But you never know, if I manage to get my hands on an iRiver or something, I may see what I can do…God knows I never shut up, so a podcast might be in the future…The world *needs* to know my opinion on “stuff”…*grin*

  6. Yeah that was GLyn talking, he used to be one of the behind the scenes producers of t6. He lined up some of my favourite interviews, especially the Cory Doctorow one.

I got my iRiver on eBay. It cost all of like 40 bucks or something. THere is no need for anything fancy at all.
