  1. Re: the Canadian Tire money–really, when you think about it, all money is coupons–it has no intrisic value, it’s just pieces of paper that we can exchange for stuff. The only difference between the Canadian Tire money and government-issued money is that under ordiinary conditions only Canadian Tire accepts their money and everyone in the country will accept the government-issued money. (Well, sometimes no one will accept the government-issued money–Continental dollars spring to mind–but that’s why I said under ordinary circumstances.) It’s not like money is tradable for gold any more…
